What is InterNations?

InterNations is a global network for people living and working abroad. It has communities in 420 cities around the world, making it easy for members to meet expats and global minds in their city. The app helps members to find new friends, grow their network, and discover a wide range of events where they can share their experiences with like-minded people. The app is available for free, but there is also a premium membership called Albatross Membership that includes all premium features for a small monthly fee.

5. To prevent auto renewal, you need to turn it off at least 24 hours before the end of the current subscription period.

My opinion

I have been a long time member with this great organization, but for the past few years I have been quite disappointed with the events and quality of people attending them. The events I have been attending in Madrid lost their luster and high quality for some reason. In 2012 I attended multiple events where there was an attendance of a great selection of people mostly international, with a good range of ages with different professions. During the past 2 years I only see unfortunately low class people, sorry I don’t mean to target a particular group, but I don’t get to meet the quality people I got used to compared to the early days of this organization. In addition, instead of meeting a good selection of international people, I would say 80% of the people are mainly Spanish. Which is fine but this is no longer this app. Also, it seems that the group leaders or organizers are only targeting locations to gain personal benefits to collect some commissions, I don’t have any proof of that but I can see that the organizers have become fake and not really interested in introducing members to each other. I remember when I used to enter the event and the organizer would take my name and start introducing me to people all around. It is unfortunate that your organization has changed to become as such, I really like the concept and I do hope that changes will be made to make the experience as it used to be. Thank you.
Unsafe practice

I am writing because I am very concerned about the process of becoming an this app member. To be more specific, I would hope something can be done to discourage scammers from joining this community. I have been contacted by a gentleman who has three different names but his profile picture is the same on all three profiles. His names are: Diego Fernando , Wilson Henderson, and Kent Mark. Each one has given the exact same story about being Puerto Rican but living in Norway, having 1 daughter and being a widower. The first one tried his hardest to get me to send him money and at that point I blocked him. Please let me know what can be done if anything to discourage this kind of abuse of your site and community. Regards Joyce Bunch
So bad app, too many errors

Every time this app is updated it is frustrating how many errors have. Apparently nobody on internation test the app before releasing. The images system is a mess, the message notification does not work properly, the events does not show the whole event description so is always a problem because users don’t read something that is hidden. Post on event are hidden so nobody read them. If somebody send a message during an event there is not notification to the host so most of the time people get lost. Support is so in efficient, they answer 4 or 5 days after a support ticket is sent. I really don’t understand how this big company does not have a real app team to improve this mess.
Incompetent developers

So many errors using this app and my friends and group members report the same issues. Just one example is when people try to sign up for a group event, even when they are logged in as a consul! Another longstanding problem is when replying to an message from another member by clicking in an email to launch the messages app, when I click send after writing my response I will get an error every time. Why does this happen? Incompetent developers, I say. So I have a hell of a problem getting people to pay for membership when so many are unhappy with the services. It creates a huge headache for me as a group consul.
