I had bought this pack 2 years ago when it was Australasia. When they took out Australia & NZ to a separate app I wasn't too happy about losing access to the maps I use. I contacted them & once they saw my receipt for it they gifted me the new app. Because they have account syncing all my data transferred without a hitch. That's good customer service.
Good charts, too tedious to download charts

This looks pretty similar to the old app, which I own several of and are great. The main difference is that app doesnt contain all the charts like the old one, you have to select an area and download them. That is all fine, but you can only select a very small area and it takes too long to download and install. Especally since this app covers such a large range of loctions and I will not have internet while out there, there really needs to be a way to download large areas. I am also concerned if my ipod crashes, will this downloaded data be restored by the backup? I am using this app as a form of backup charts for my boat, so both of these are big steps back from the old app(s).

This version does screen updates and scrolling on my iPhone4 at a very acceptable rate. I'm no longer in New Zealand so won't be putting the app through its paces on the water any time soon. I expect the charting is up to the usual high Navionics standards. The screen update speed was my biggest gripe with version 1.1.6. I have not tested how the speed of downloading chart sections is in this version. Hopefully the crashing problems with the previous version are now a thing of the past. You'll want to see reviews from people who are using the app heavily.
